Refill your empty scented oil plug-ins!!! Yes you can!

So you've got an empty Glade or Air Wick scented oil plug in, right? Depending on the type, the refills cost around $5 each. So what to do? Refill it yourself! You can do this very simply with essential oil (or fragrance oil) and hot water. How?

Pull the empty container off the plug in. This is simple, as they snap on and off for easy replacement. Now, pull the top/wick off the container. These containers are either glass or plastic. The glass ones have a small, clear plastic top that pops right off with the wick. Pull the wick out and set aside.

Fill the container about 1/3 full with any essential oil you like. I used a lavender oil mix called "calming" as I had used the same oil to make carpet refresher. Fill the container the rest of the way up with hot tap water. (Note: I over filled the first one! Don't fill to the top because you need to leave room for the wick.) Pop the lid/wick back into the container and give it a gentle shake. Now just wipe it off, put it back into the plug in and you're done. You might find that these actually smell BETTER than the original. I certainly did. The next day my house smelled wonderful!

I'll never buy the refills again now that I've figured out this little trick!

  1. Now if you still have left over oil and don't know what to do with it, there are MANY options! I'll list some here later so check back.

  2. A friend has now tried this little trick. She said that it cost 89cents to refill three of them, compared to $5 to buy two replacements. WHAT a savings...not to mention you can get any smell you like!
